We’re thrilled to kick off this year’s Terry Fox School Campaign—a time when our school community comes together to honour a true Canadian hero and raise funds for cancer research. Terry’s story continues to inspire millions, and we’re proud to walk in his footsteps once again.

💙 How to Donate

This year, we’re making fundraising easier than ever! Families can choose to donate in one of two ways:

👟 Walk Day – September 26th

We warmly invite families to join us for our Terry Fox Walk on Friday, September 26th, right after our Welcome Back Assembly in the gym. We’ll celebrate the start of a new school year, hear a short presentation about Terry’s legacy, and then head out for our walk together. Our goal is to get started at 1:15 once we can al get into the gym. 😊

We’ve updated our route this year to ensure safety and accessibility for all students. A map will be shared closer to the date.

If you’re joining us:

• Please stay with your child’s class during the walk. The classroom buddies will be walking together to ensure that students are safe on our journey. 
• Wear red and white or Canadian gear to show your spirit!
• Help us cheer on our students as they walk with purpose and pride

🎟️ Spirit & Stickers

Each student will receive an “I am walking for…” sticker to wear prior to the day. These can be filled out at home with a name or cause that’s meaningful to your family. Classes will also receive Terry Fox tattoos—a fun way to show support!

📚 Learning About Terry

In the lead-up to the walk, students will be learning about Terry Fox through classroom activities and library displays. We’ll also be reading the new Terry Fox book during our assembly, so students can hear his story in a powerful and engaging way.

Let’s come together to celebrate courage, community, and hope. Thank you for supporting this incredible cause and helping us keep Terry’s dream alive.

Dear Families,

TES is excited to announce the 17th annual “TES Store of Giving”! This beloved tradition will take place in the gym at T.E.S. and gives every student the chance to experience the joy of giving by shopping for family members.

Event Details

• Shopping Day:
  • Friday, December 5th, 2025
    (except for K01 and K03, who will shop Thursday, December 4th)
• Cost: All items will cost $0.25 each, and each child may purchase up to 10 items ($2.50).
  • Please send quarters only in a ziplock bag labeled with your child’s name.
• Bag: Each student should bring a large reusable cloth grocery bag to carry their gifts home. These work best because they don’t rip like gift bags—we’d hate for any special gifts to be lost!
• Festive Fun: Students are invited to wear a festive hat to celebrate this special day.

Please note: Students will shop during their scheduled class time. We kindly ask for your understanding that we cannot make special exceptions for students to shop at different times due to absences.

We Need Your Help!

We are graciously accepting donations of clean, gently used items that can be used as gifts for all family members. Collection will take place Monday, December 1st through Thursday morning, December 4th so volunteers can set up Thursday afternoon.

Donation Guidelines:

• Items should be appropriate for all ages and free of explicit language or images.
• Avoid items related to alcohol advertising, knives, sharp tools, or large kitchen appliances with sharp parts.
• If sending glass items, please pack them in gift boxes for safe transport.
• Suggestions include: jewelry, craft kits, board games, unused self-care items, ornaments, home décor, etc.
• Please avoid sending broken or dirty items, and note that we often receive too many books or toys.

Proceeds from the store will go to support Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.

📢 Lost and Found Reminder

Our Lost and Found is packed full and will be cleared out at the end of this week. There are numerous items of clothing that have not been claimed for several months.

✅ What happens next?
Unclaimed items will be donated to the Salvation Army or placed in our extra clothing room for student use.

✅ How you can help:
Please check the Lost and Found before Friday and remind your child to look for any missing items.

We appreciate families labeling clothing with your child’s name—this makes it much easier to return items quickly.

Let’s start fresh in the new year and keep Lost and Found to a minimum! Thank you for your support.

On Nov. 27^th, 2024, the Ministry of Education announced the development of a new Saskatchewan Student Assessment (SSA) program. More detailed information about the program is attached to this communication.

In the spring of 2026, NESD students in Grade 5 Math, Grade 9 Math, and Gr. 7 ELA will participate in a census field test.  A census field test is a province-wide trial run of the assessment procedures and questions.  No assessment results from the census field test will be provided to students, families, or school divisions as the purpose is to test the test only.

Additional information and updates about the SSA program and the field test will be provided as it becomes available.

✨ TeleMiracle Fundraising Kickoff – Week of February 9–12! ✨

We are so excited to officially kick off our TeleMiracle fundraising project during the week of February 9–12! This is something our school continues to be passionate about, and we’re thrilled to come together once again to support a cause that helps so many people across Saskatchewan. 💛

This year, we’ve added a little friendly spirit‑team competition to see which team can raise the most money. We can’t wait to feel the energy and generosity from our students, families, and community!

Here’s what’s happening during TeleMiracle Week:

Students and staff may wear a hat by bringing a $2 donation (or more) for their team bucket.
🌟 Kindergarten Hat Day will be Tuesday, Feb. 10.

🛌 Wednesday, Feb. 11 – Pyjama Day
Students and staff can wear their comfiest PJs with a $2+ donation to their team bucket.

We are so excited to be planning TES Field Day and are looking forward to warmer weather and a wonderful day of celebrating our students together! This is always a highlight of the year for our Kindergarten to Grade 5 learners.

✨ Volunteers Needed: Kindergarten to Grade 2 ✨
To help make Field Day a success, we are looking for parent volunteers for Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2. Volunteers will support small groups of students as they move through stations during the day.

✅ Approximately 12 volunteers per grade (K–2) are needed
✅ Selection will be first come, first served
✅ Families who are interested are asked to please contact your child’s teacher directly

Families are also welcome to attend as spectators and cheer on our students throughout the day!

As May approaches, we at Tisdale Elementary School are gearing up to celebrate Mental Health Week, and we’re excited to share a heartfelt initiative with you that embodies our “Better Together” philosophy.

 During the first week of May ( 3 - 9) , we will be hosting a Chalk Walk Talk, where our amazing students and dedicated staff will come together to brighten our community, one sidewalk at a time! 💛

 We’ll be writing positive, encouraging messages outside, promoting mental health and reminding everyone that they are not alone. This initiative is near and dear to our hearts, and it reflects the values we aim to instill in our students — kindness, connection, and care for one another. But we don’t want to stop at the school!

We invite YOU — local organizations, community members, and families — to join us in this effort! Grab some sidewalk chalk and let’s spread love and encouragement throughout our neighborhoods. 🖍️💕

👟 Walk Day – September 26th

We warmly invite families to join us for our Terry Fox Walk on Friday, September 26th, right after our Welcome Back Assembly in the gym. We’ll celebrate the start of a new school year, hear a short presentation about Terry’s legacy, and then head out for our walk together. Our goal is to get started at 1:15 once we can al get into the gym. 😊

We’ve updated our route this year to ensure safety and accessibility for all students. A map will be shared closer to the date.

If you’re joining us:

• Please stay with your child’s class during the walk. The classroom buddies will be walking together to ensure that students are safe on our journey. 
• Wear red and white or Canadian gear to show your spirit!
• Help us cheer on our students as they walk with purpose and pride

🎟️ Spirit & Stickers

Each student will receive an “I am walking for…” sticker to wear prior to the day. These can be filled out at home with a name or cause that’s meaningful to your family. Classes will also receive Terry Fox tattoos—a fun way to show support!

📚 Learning About Terry

In the lead-up to the walk, students will be learning about Terry Fox through classroom activities and library displays. We’ll also be reading the new Terry Fox book during our assembly, so students can hear his story in a powerful and engaging way.

TES is excited to announce the 17th annual “TES Store of Giving”! This beloved tradition will take place in the gym at T.E.S. and gives every student the chance to experience the joy of giving by shopping for family members.

Event Details

• Shopping Day:
  • Friday, December 5th, 2025
    (except for K01 and K03, who will shop Thursday, December 4th)
• Cost: All items will cost $0.25 each, and each child may purchase up to 10 items ($2.50).
  • Please send quarters only in a ziplock bag labeled with your child’s name.
• Bag: Each student should bring a large reusable cloth grocery bag to carry their gifts home. These work best because they don’t rip like gift bags—we’d hate for any special gifts to be lost!
• Festive Fun: Students are invited to wear a festive hat to celebrate this special day.

Please note: Students will shop during their scheduled class time. We kindly ask for your understanding that we cannot make special exceptions for students to shop at different times due to absences.

We Need Your Help!

We are graciously accepting donations of clean, gently used items that can be used as gifts for all family members. Collection will take place Monday, December 1st through Thursday morning, December 4th so volunteers can set up Thursday afternoon.

Donation Guidelines:

• Items should be appropriate for all ages and free of explicit language or images.
• Avoid items related to alcohol advertising, knives, sharp tools, or large kitchen appliances with sharp parts.
• If sending glass items, please pack them in gift boxes for safe transport.
• Suggestions include: jewelry, craft kits, board games, unused self-care items, ornaments, home décor, etc.
• Please avoid sending broken or dirty items, and note that we often receive too many books or toys.

Proceeds from the store will go to support Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.

📢 Lost and Found Reminder

Our Lost and Found is packed full and will be cleared out at the end of this week. There are numerous items of clothing that have not been claimed for several months.

✅ What happens next?
Unclaimed items will be donated to the Salvation Army or placed in our extra clothing room for student use.

✅ How you can help:
Please check the Lost and Found before Friday and remind your child to look for any missing items.

We appreciate families labeling clothing with your child’s name—this makes it much easier to return items quickly.

On Nov. 27^th, 2024, the Ministry of Education announced the development of a new Saskatchewan Student Assessment (SSA) program. More detailed information about the program is attached to this communication.

In the spring of 2026, NESD students in Grade 5 Math, Grade 9 Math, and Gr. 7 ELA will participate in a census field test.  A census field test is a province-wide trial run of the assessment procedures and questions.  No assessment results from the census field test will be provided to students, families, or school divisions as the purpose is to test the test only.

Additional information and updates about the SSA program and the field test will be provided as it becomes available.

✨ TeleMiracle Fundraising Kickoff – Week of February 9–12! ✨

We are so excited to officially kick off our TeleMiracle fundraising project during the week of February 9–12! This is something our school continues to be passionate about, and we’re thrilled to come together once again to support a cause that helps so many people across Saskatchewan. 💛

This year, we’ve added a little friendly spirit‑team competition to see which team can raise the most money. We can’t wait to feel the energy and generosity from our students, families, and community!

Here’s what’s happening during TeleMiracle Week:

To help make Field Day a success, we are looking for parent volunteers for Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2. Volunteers will support small groups of students as they move through stations during the day.

✅ Selection will be first come, first served
✅ Families who are interested are asked to please contact your child’s teacher directly

Families are also welcome to attend as spectators and cheer on our students throughout the day!

As May approaches, we at Tisdale Elementary School are gearing up to celebrate Mental Health Week, and we’re excited to share a heartfelt initiative with you that embodies our “Better Together” philosophy.

 During the first week of May ( 3 - 9) , we will be hosting a Chalk Walk Talk, where our amazing students and dedicated staff will come together to brighten our community, one sidewalk at a time! 💛

 We’ll be writing positive, encouraging messages outside, promoting mental health and reminding everyone that they are not alone. This initiative is near and dear to our hearts, and it reflects the values we aim to instill in our students — kindness, connection, and care for one another. But we don’t want to stop at the school!

We invite YOU — local organizations, community members, and families — to join us in this effort! Grab some sidewalk chalk and let’s spread love and encouragement throughout our neighborhoods. 🖍️💕

On Nov. 27^th, 2024, the Ministry of Education announced the development of a new Saskatchewan Student Assessment (SSA) program. More detailed information about the program is attached to this communication.

In the spring of 2026, NESD students in Grade 5 Math, Grade 9 Math, and Gr. 7 ELA will participate in a census field test.  A census field test is a province-wide trial run of the assessment procedures and questions.  No assessment results from the census field test will be provided to students, families, or school divisions as the purpose is to test the test only.

Additional information and updates about the SSA program and the field test will be provided as it becomes available.

Saskatchewan Student Assessment Fact Sheet

In Saskatchewan, Family Literacy Week is observed from January 25–31, 2026, with Family Literacy Day recognized on January 27.

This year’s national theme, “Make Mealtime Family Learning Time,” invites families to turn everyday routines into opportunities for connection, storytelling, skill-building, and joy. From reading recipes and planning meals to sharing cultural food traditions and telling stories at the table, mealtime becomes a powerful learning environment that reflects the strengths of family life.

With colder weather keeping families indoors, it’s common for children to spend more time on screens. However, extra screen use can add hidden stress that makes it harder for kids to stay calm, focused, and emotionally regulated, an idea that connects closely with Dr. Stuart Shanker’s Self‑Reg work. Research shows that heavy screen use, including gaming, videos, and social media, is linked to increased anxiety, irritability, difficulty winding down, and delays in language and cognitive development. The fast pace of screen activity also makes it harder for the brain to shift into calmer routines, adding to stress.

From a Self‑Reg perspective, this stress can be easy to overlook. Children may seem relaxed while watching or playing, but their nervous system may still be working hard. Hidden stress often shows up later as emotional outbursts, sleep challenges, or difficulty with transitions. Families can help by reframing screen‑related behaviour as a sign of stress, offering gentle alternatives like movement, drawing, or reading, and creating small moments of quiet connection. These calming routines support co‑regulation and help children reset during the long winter months.
