Families we are so excited to see your children at the school beginning on September 5th. A reminder that first bell is at 8:50 and the end of the day is 3:25. A reminder that pre k, k and grade one have staggered start dates. 

A reminder that we are a peanut free school.

We thank you for always communicating clearly what the after school plan is for your child.  Each student will eventually have a communication book ( They are on their way!! )that comes to and from school each day. If any plans have changed, be sure to call the school well in advance.  If you child is going to be away from school you can do a planned absence on Edsby or call the school at 306-873-4533.

Please ensure that when dropping off children to the school they do not arrive before 8:40 when our supervisors and safety patrol are outside.  Students can begin to come in at 8:50 when the first bell rings.

Thank you for ensuring students, and yourselves, are using the crosswalks to safetly go across the street.

Please do not park or drop off students in our staff parking lot and bus loop area, to ensure students are safe.

We wanted to share out a few reminders about safety procedures at our school. ( See attached.) Throughout the year we will have various drill practices that include fire drills, lockdown and hold and secure drills. We will always have these planned in advance and will be communicated to staff, students and families.  There are the odd times a surprise one MAY occur.   One new safety practice that is new to us this year,  is the intercom system at the front entrance. Please see attached letters for more clarification.

Please note that there is a planned power outage on September 6th in Tisdale from 10 - 12. School will still continue. We will have lots of outdoor learning activities. Please ensure you send extra water in bottles on that day, as our bottle filling stations will not be working during that time. Please note our phones will also not be working, nor any of our technology. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Please note that there is a planned power outage on September 6th in Tisdale from 10 - 12.

School will still continue.

We will have lots of outdoor learning activities planned for the day during this time. 

Please ensure you send extra water in bottles on that day, as our bottle filling stations will not be working during that time. 

Also be advised that we will not have our main school phones or technology during this time. Please reach out to us prior to or in the afternoon if there are any changes to your child's after school plans.

Good evening! 

Our lost and found has literally exploded with coats and hoodies.  If your child is missing something, we would appreciate if you could have them go by the lost and found. 

If something looks familiar please reach out to your child's teacher. 

Thank you for helping us to return things back easier by putting their names in their items. 

As the temperatures continue to get colder, we know that sooner than later, we will have days in which more layers will be needed. Thank you for ensuring students come to school dressed for the weather. It is important that all students go outside to enjoy the fresh air and move about with their peers.

If at any time you need help with acessing outdoor clothing please reach out to your child's teacher. 

Please ensure that ski pants, coats, boots, mitts, toques are all labelled.

From September 1 through to September 30^, 2023, the City of Melfort and Reconciliation Melfort are presenting an exhibit featuring paintings by renowned James Smith Cree Nation artist Jerry Whitehead at the Sherven-Smith Art Gallery, at the Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort.

The exhibit opening coincided with the anniversary of the tragic killings at the James Smith Cree Nation and will remain open leading up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30^th.

Thank you to our NESD families who have completed the 'Family Data Verification' for the 2023-24 school year! Through this secure process, over 3000 student registration records have been updated.

Please check your email to complete this verification for your students or contact your child's school to ensure this important 'back to school' step is complete. 

On Friday,September 29, 2023 the staff and students of NESD will honor Orange Shirt Day. 

Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”.  The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

If you happen to see one of our I.T. team today, please show your appreciation for their hard work and dedication.  Take a moment to thank them for their patience, expertise, and the countless hours they spend keeping our digITal lives up and running.

Arborfield Community Hall

The purpose of this special meeting will be for electors to discuss:

2. How we can together make Arborfield School the best K-6 school that we can.
